From start to finish, the race is very well organized. Easy sign-up; very convenient packet pickup. Course monitors and water stations were all out there where they need to be. Mile markers are easy to follow even with 4 loops.

Great food and fun at the finish line. I'll be back next year.

I ran this race in 2009. I was very impressed with everything! The course is beautiful and easy on the legs. The organization was equal to any race I have ever run, including several large marathons and half marathons. I wouldn't change a thing!

"Great little race with beautiful scenery" (about: 2008)

This race is a trail run that takes you through the woods out to a beautiful area on Galveston Bay. The volunteers are awesome and the post-race party is one of the best, with lots of good food. You get lots of goodies for participating, and the medals are very nice. You can complete a half-marathon on Saturday and a full or half on Sunday, and you can earn 3 medals. Great race organization!

"Great Race and Great Food" (about: 2008)

I ran the Trail Challenge event, which was the half marathon on Saturday and full marathon on Sunday. This events rewards the finisher with 3 medals. The half marathon comprised 2 loops and the full marathon featured 4 loops. It was better on your feet than street marathons. Only the first mile is on a street. The race was well organized and the post-race food was great: hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, drinks, bananas, oranges, etc. All aid stations were well stocked and the volunteers were very friendly. I have run this race since the inception and it's a great small marathon with easy flat trails. Goodies were a Dri-release shirt, Dri-release socks and a Dri-release-type hat emblazoned with their logo.

"Four loops are quite boring" (about: 2006)

The four loops really bugged me; I was really hankering for some change of scenery at about mile 18. Also, all the food was gone when I finished.

"Great small-town marathon. Beautiful run." (about: 2008)

The race was well organized and the trail course through the woods was beautiful. Volunteers were excellent and the aid stations were well manned and stocked. While this was my first marathon, the small trails made for some cramped running, and the four loops made it mentally tough. However, I enjoyed my race very much. The free massage was perfect and there was minimal waiting. Really no crowd to speak of but runners were very friendly and the small trails made for easy conversation.

"Great small-town run" (about: 2008)

While this race has a great, home-towney atmosphere, great goody bag, and wonderful post-race food... the narrow, winding trail, coupled with two-way traffic on most of it, definitely limit your pace. I loved the run through the woods, and was fine with the slower pace, but sure could've done without the FOUR loop course. Going past the finish line 3 times before you finally cross it made the fourth time was mentally difficult. Weather was hot, and the wind was strong, but not a real factor due to being in the woods most of the time. Volunteers were awesome, though crowds were non-existent (but being so close to other runners, both coming and going, made you not focus on lack of crowds). All in all, a nice run but course is more suited to a half marathon rather than a full one.

"Fun Marathon" (about: 2008)

This is a comfortable trail. The crushed gravel was easy on the joints. It made for a bit slower time. Weather was perfect. Food, goody bag, and free massages were the best.

"Fantastic First (Half-Marathon) Race for Me!" (about: 2008)

This was my very first race and I actually completed the half. (Yeah!) It is a very beautiful course. The organization of the race seemed on target. The water/aid stations were great. The people were very friendly and I truly enjoyed it. The food was great. The medal, shirt and cap were also wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone. There is also so much to do with family before and after racing. The police and EMT support was in place. Plenty of port-o-potties. Other runners were tolerant of a "newbie." Truly enjoyable race for me to start with. I hope to be back!

"ABSOLUTELY GREAT RUN!!!" (about: 2008)

4-5 previous marathons | 1 Seabrook Lucky Trail Marathon

This was an awesome run. I've run 4 marathons this year so far and one half, and this is certainly at the top of the list. I ran the challenge of the half on Saturday and full on Sunday. And this was also my final marathon to complete the Texas Triple. I didn't expect this one to be great, to be honest, but I was really thrilled to see how fun it was. The course was great - lots of scenery, shaded, gravel (easy on the joints) - and the volunteers were AMAZING! With the volunteers at this marathon, you didn't even need spectators, because they did it all: helped, cheered, and even remembered me from the half run on Saturday! I really loved this run. The medals will also keep me coming back for more next year!!! They were just HUGE! And that was a big bonus considering I ran 39.3 miles during the two-day event. Who wants a little medal for that, right?! Well the medals were great, volunteers were amazing, and there was a beautiful course, great food and fun! I will definitely be back next year for this one. The course was so nice that it wasn't even a mental block to make 4 loops! It was so pretty. You got to run on a boardwalk, next to the bay, under the trees in the woods.... There was just so much to see. I was overall very pleased with this run and will recommend it to all of my fellow runners who missed out on this great event!!!

And to the volunteers and coordinators, thanks so much for your help and support!
