"Flat, Fast, Perfect Weather" (about: 2008)

I did the half this year in hopes of doing the full next year. I have done many Ken Long events and have always been impressed with their organization and support. The course (especially the half) is flat and the weather on race morning was perfect (50 degrees and little wind).

My one gripe is the packet pickup, and the statehouse in general. Packet pickup on Friday afternoon in downtown is a pain between the traffic and limited parking around the statehouse at this time. Hopefully, KLA can utilize the convention center or one of the downtown hotels for pickup in the future.

Post-race area at the statehouse can be a hassle, with the security check and the steps to climb on sore legs.
I do not want to park for $5 for a 5-minute packet pickup, and I'm too tired to rob anyone after running a half/full marathon, so the security clearance to get in the statehouse post-race on a Saturday is pretty silly.

"GREAT inaugural race" (about: 2008)

Nice flat/fast course with fabulous weather (45 or so at start). I set a 3-minute PR! I would recommend more aid stations with Gatorade, and either have volunteers yelling what's in the cups or have signs for water/Gatorade.

Running through the art museum grounds was nice but confusing, as no one was directing runners. Otherwise, it was a very nice race. I would run it again for sure.

I ran the half-marathon. The course was slightly downhill most of the way. The water stops were well placed and there were actually quite a few spectators. If you are looking for a fast time, this is your course.

"Really fun course for a half marathon!" (about: 2008)

I have done the Indy Mini twice, and six other half marathons, and this one is right up there! I really liked the course: beautiful neighborhoods, monuments, Lucas Oil Stadium, etc. Spectators were there to cheer us on. Aid station volunteers yelled out which cups had water/Gatorade. I wasn't crazy about going to downtown Indy to pick up my packet, but truthfully, I have lived in Indiana for 59 years and have never gone into the state capitol building. The weather was fantastic. Only complaint: some mile markers were hard to see, and I would have liked something besides a banana and bagel at the end. Great medal and technical shirt! Well organized... thanks, Ken and group!

"fun, fast and flat - and spectator-friendly" (about: 2008)

The course was nice and new, but the walkers should start earlier, or at least they should be put in the back of the lineup. Not all aid stations had Gatorade; medical areas were hard to find; spectators were great; course patrols were good and alert; they had nice start and finish locations; and they chose a scenic route. It's a good time to run in Indy.

"What an Awesome Marathon" (about: 2008)

The course was great, with a couple of small hills, but it was mostly flat. There were more spectators than I expected. Weather was picture-perfect. I think I'll run this one again.

"Extremely well-supported and flat." (about: 2008)

For a maiden marathon, it was very well done. The water stations were plentiful and the people gracious. The course is nice and flat. Pre-marathon area could use a better location - e.g., the Marriott - and could use some booths for supplies. But overall, I was very impressed and I hope you keep going with this marathon.

This race is flat, fast and well organized. Start and finish areas are very close to plenty of parking and hotels. Course had limited spectators, but overall, I would recommend it if you are looking to PR.

"Fast, Scenic Course" (about: 2008)

This course was well thought out with the many downhill stretches in the second half of the race. This was my first negative split marathon (1:37, 1:33) and a PR by 35 minutes, and a Boston qualifier!!! The field was small (~1100), but the community support was present all throughout the charming neighborhoods. The expo was low-frills, but the medal and shirt were very high quality. Also, being able to stay at a hotel 200 yards from the start/finish line was sure nice, especially since I was able to book it one week before the race. Downtown Indy has great places to carbo load the night before as well.

"Spectacular" (about: 2008)

This was my first marathon and the weather could not have been better. The course was very flat except for a little hill at mile 15. Good crowd support in the neighborhoods. Downtown area was wonderful. The only problem was that one water stop ran out of cups. They needed more water and porto-johns toward the end of the race. Very pretty course. Good for a first marathon; there were 1,100 finishers in the marathon.
