"Scenic, fun, and fabulous!" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 5  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 5

This was my second year running the Fox Valley Marathon and 13th marathon overall. I will run this marathon every year I am able. The date is perfect early fall to feel ready for another fall marathon or relieved to be done before the Chicago Marathoners start their taper. The course is beautiful and easy for my family to navigate to see me at multiple spots. It is not too crowded, but a good size so you don't feel alone like other marathons I've run. From optional training runs along the course all summer long, to packet pick up, and all the way to post race refreshments it is a top notch event and well organized.

"Great 1st half marathon!!" (about: 2012)

This was only my 3rd race, but 1st half marathon. Was able to run after a set back with shin splints half way through 12 wk training. Everyone was great & encouraging, course laid out well & well marked. Met my goal of finishing in under 3 hrs. Feeling good at the finish. Got tripped by a spectator (accident) just prior to the start of the race & sustained quite an injury to my rt lower leg. Medical staff great patched me up & I was able to run! It is very sore & bruised now, but not due to the actual race. Thanks for a fun & exciting time! Hope to be back next year!

"Great Local Race - A Must Do" (about: 2012)

3 previous marathons | 1 Fox Valley Marathon

After doing Chicago in 2011 I wanted to do something different but local. A friend of mine from work suggested FV and I was reluctant but did it. I don't really like small races. But... I have to say A+ for FV26! A personalized race, fast course, and local support - Thank you Fox Valley - I ran on an injury and finished slow but you guys really made me feel like a rock star!!!

"excellent" (about: 2012)

Keep all people off the finish line. I sprint the last 100 yards; it's very dangerous at the finish line trying to stop and not run into people.

"Great Small Marathon!" (about: 2012)

3 previous marathons | 1 Fox Valley Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

This was my first small marathon (had 2300 runners). I've run 2 major city marathons before that had between 30,000-40,000 runners. The volunteers were wonderful, there were great spaces for spectators to watch and cheer the runners on, and there were a ton of aid stations. The scenery was beautiful and the course was nicely organized. At some points there were no spectators for extended periods of time, but there was plenty of scenery to look at. It was nice to have a smaller course - there was no bobbing/weaving between runners, tripping on other peoples feet or getting stuck behind a large crowd of people. I felt it was well organized and really enjoyed the experience.

"GREAT RACE" (about: 2012)

11-50 previous marathons | 1 Fox Valley Marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 4  FANS: 4

I did this as a warm up for Chicago in 3 weeks. As I was running Fox Valley I thought, I should just have ran this, and not Chicago. It was an excellent race. great scenery by the Fox River, very well organized, lots of port o potties on the starting line and during the course. IT WAS GREAT.

Hi, I dont recall the 835/mile pacer's name but he was AWESOME. Great attitude, Great advice and made my 3rd run at the Final 20 a blast. I can only hope to see him at Chicago. Please pass along my sincere thanks.

"Fabulous for this first-time marathoner" (about: 2012)

I ran the half in 2011 and decided then that if I was ever to run a full marathon, it would be at Fox Valley Marathon. I'm so glad I did.

From the exceptional communication leading up to the event from the day I signed up (I registered in January!) to the free training runs that catered to every single pace imaginable, to the fantastic support along the course and awesome announcer at the finish, I'd do this race again and again.

"Enjoyed this event and will do it again!" (about: 2012)

1 previous marathon
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 5  FANS: 4

This was one of the better organized I've seen, with a huge amount of volunteers and great fuel and aid stops all along the course. the ratio of help to runners was amazing. Much of the course was very pretty with the majority in the shade. Very spectator friendly which my family loved. I'll do this race again next year.
