"Love this Marathon!" (about: 2011)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The Fox Valley Marathon is awesome! The volunteers are the simply the best! For example, at one of the water stops I accidentally ran past the Gatorade. This water stop was being staffed by a High School Cross Country team, so one of the runners ran and caught up to me with a glass of Gatorade in his hand!! This typifies the entire experience. Well done, Fox Valley!

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This marathon is a wonderful marathon, its hard to believe its such a young one. Every single detail was perfect. The course is beautiful, the volunteers are the best I've seen, I just can't say enough how wonderful this was. I was planning on just doing it once, for a different fall marathon, but I cannot wait to do it again next year. Its just perfect.

"Of my 9 marathons, this is my favorite by far!" (about: 2011)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I have run nine marathons over that last 4 years. I have run the Fox Valley Marathon twice. Without a doubt, this is my favorite one. The course is flat, fast and beautiful. The organization is awesome. They take care of everything, right down to the little details. Super detailed spectator guide so that my wife could find me. Small race bib with my first name printed in big letters (so that people can cheer for me). A ton of aid stations with porta-johns. Many smiling volunteers, helping along the way. Great finishers medal. Great post-race support. Extra 'Endurance' medal for multi-year participation. Perfect race to PR! I will run this marathon every year until I can't run anymore (then I'll drop to the half :).

"Awesome well put together Marathon!" (about: 2011)
1 previous marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 From the starting line to the finish line this Marathon was well put together. Water stations, bathrooms, the crowd and most of all the scenery was spectacular. Kudos to the race organizers. Oh yeah the medals and the race shirts were top notch too.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my first marathon, but I could not be more pleased from start to finish. The training runs throughout the summer, pre-race communication and support really got me ready and excited for the big day. And what a day! SO easy to get to, an amazing spectator guide that allowed my family to follow along and cheer at several different spots along the way, beautiful course with tons of support stations. So friendly, so helpful, so supportive, so encouraging, start to finish. Great people, great race. Enough said!

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 First class organization for a small race. Well run pace groups designed for BQ friendly standards. Great social and community focus - they raised $7,000 in 10 days to support Joplin victims. Can not say enough. Well done.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 The course is great along the Fox River the whole way with many parks for spectators. Extremely well organized with a very informative spectator guide illustrating places and parking for spectators. I plan on running this marathon every year forever.

"Well organized but so-so course" (about: 2011)
2 previous marathons
| 1 Fox Valley Marathon
COURSE: 1 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 2 The Good: Great volunteers, well organized, lots of fluids and shots, really cool finishers medal, nice tee-shirt, small marathon ~ 1,000 runners, great pace groups, great wave start The bad: Course had some grass and a lot of wooden bridges which were slick in the rain. Also some uncool stuff like running through a back-alley in downtown Batavia(?), long stretches with no crowd support, some single file running (though the organizers had mentioned this earlier) I signed up for the location (I live in Chicagoland), small size, and picturesque course. Still like the first location and the size, and love the organization, but not the course. I will probably not run this course again. |
