"Totally an A+ run!" (about: 2010)

| 1 Twin Cities Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 Because this run coincided with my 40th birthday, and because I read all of the previous positive comments about the TCM, I decided to make the trek from Maryland to Minnesota to make this my very first marathon. IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT! A+ course (beautiful and not too hilly) A+ crowd support A+ organization A+ weather (lucky, I suppose) The medal was pretty cool, too. My only minor complaint: No post-race beer at the finish line! That would have hit the spot. Worth traveling cross country to run. Put this one on your marathon bucket list.

"Awesome race" (about: 2010)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 This was my 9th marathon and it ranks as one of my favorites. The course was great, fans were unbelievable, and the weather was just perfect (but you can't predict weather so don't choose a race based on that). The last 6 miles were challenging with that gradual upgrade, but I was still able to qualify for Boston and just loved this course. Highly recommend it.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 I have run all of the major marathons including 5 consecutive Bostons. This marathon maybe my favorite! Everything was great from start to finish. Wonderful course and spectators. They backload the hills but that's nothing to worry about. Put this one on your list!!

"Very good marathon!" (about: 2010)

| 1 Twin Cities Marathon
COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Extremely well run event! Maybe the best fan support I have seen! People lined the entire course and runners were never running in no-man's land as can happen at Boston and does happen at Chicago. The course was more challenging than expected - would compare it to the Boston course. Maybe it's me. The only critical comment I have for the race organizers is that the downtown streets (early in the race) were pitted with MANY potholes. The holes were deep and frequent. For the safety of runners, this should be fixed, or else re-route the course.

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Just a quick review: FANTASTIC! Best marathon I've run with regard to organization, crowd support, amenities, and scenery. No complaints whatsoever. (Of course, this year's beautiful weather helped too.) Seemed like every last detail was covered. Thanks to the organizers for such a well run event!

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Now I know why they call it "The Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America" - you need to be there to really enjoy a great race, I highly recommend it if you are planning to run a marathon, the Summit Ave. is not easy but the spectators help you to keep going.

"organized and beautiful" (about: 2010)
1 previous marathon
| 1 Twin Cities Marathon
COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 As many others have commented: gorgeous course with unbelievable crowd support; and people were lined along the entire course, and were several deep in the final miles. Logistics (bathrooms, water stops, packet pickup) were flawless, and the volunteers were both enthusiastic and efficient. Plentiful and appropriate foods at the finish (love the veggie broth!), and volunteers were easily handling middle-of-the-pack crowds. Lots of hotel availability near the start, and the light rail is another great option if you want to stay near the Mall of America and get dropped off directly at the Metrodome. Area natives complain about the hills, but unless you're training someplace that's pancake-flat, the hills actually seem pretty minimal. Definitely recommended.

COURSE: 4 ORGANIZATION: 4 FANS: 5 I am a Minnesota native so I may be a little biased, but this race freakin' rocked!!! The expo was great (tons of goodies and info), the course was beautiful (with a challenging hill in the 20's), and the crowds and volunteers were the best (great signs and well stocked stations). I can't wait till next year to do it again!! |
