This was my first marathon and I enjoyed it. I signed up in '02, and it ended up being canceled. It did have a positive effect, however, because Rite Aid changed their course to more resemble this marathon's course, and Rite Aid has been better for it based on everything I've heard.

"Wonderful Tour of a GREAT City" (General Comments)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5

Very interesting scenery with one of the best managed marathons I've ever run. No two yards of the course were the the same and there wasn't a boring mile. The atmosphere and attitude of the runners and volunteers was 'lets have some fun' from start to finish. I esp. enjoyed the Ultima sport drink (Much better than Gatorade for a long race) and the Cliff Shots every mile. The only big hill came at mile 10 which so early in the race that it actualy felt good. And the downhill mile after was my fastest mile of the day. I've recomended this new race to a number of serious running friends. There is enough time to recover after Boston and have a good race in Cleveland. They had a nice party atmosphere at the finish line. Race directors elsewhere could learn a few lessons from these guys!
