2010 Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon
Selected as Mississippi State Championship Races
(Jackson, MS) – The Road Runners Club of America, America's premier
national running organization, has announced that the 2010 Mississippi
Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon have been selected as the Mississippi
State Championships for those distances. "All Mississippians should be very
proud of the job that the organizers in Jackson have done to establish the
Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half-Marathon as one of the truly premier
running events in the south," said RRCA State Representative Tony Mozingo
in announcing the award.
"We are honored to be awarded this designation. We believe it will help
strengthen and grow our field, and it recognizes our event as the premier
long-distance races in the state. It's a reflection of the impact our event
has made on the running community in only two years. We look forward to a
long-term relationship with the RRCA," said race director John Noblin.
An RRCA championship designation communicates to athletes and the community
that the race organizers have agreed to follow approved guidelines in the
conduct of the event. The RRCA designates State, Regional and National
Championships at every competitive road running distance. The 3rd Annual
Mississippi Blues Marathon and Half Marathon will be held January 9, 2010
in Jackson. Additional information about the event is available at
