Community First Fox Cities Marathon Festival of Races
Donates over $55,000 to Local Charities

APPLETON, WI - The Community First Fox Cities Marathon recently donated
over $20,000 in race proceeds to four local organizations: YMCA of the Fox
Cities Strong Kids Fund, Neenah Summer Fun Run Series, the Volunteer Center
of East Central Wisconsin, and Fox Valley Technical College Foundation,
Inc.

  • YMCA of the Fox Cities Strong Kids Fund provides financial
assistance to children, adults and families who would like to benefit from
the YMCA programs, camps, child care or membership, but do not have the
    financial means to do so.

  • The City of Neenah offers a Summer Fun Run Series at no
cost to any area child, providing a healthy activity for kids and
encouraging fitness among youth and their families.

  • The Volunteer Center of East Central Wisconsin helps develop,
coordinate, and promote volunteerism to address community needs in East
Central Wisconsin, including Outagamie, Winnebago and Calumet
    counties.

  • Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, Inc. supports students,
faculty and staff in reaching their goals and insures that the College
continues to train a quality workforce for the community.
  • In addition, the 2007 Community First Fox Cities Marathon helped two
charities raise over $35,000 through this past year's events in September.

  • Participants in all events were given the opportunity to donate funds
to one of two local charities - American Cancer Society or Fox
    Valley Humane Association
. Participants in the Time Warner Cable 5K
Run/Walk chose one of the charities and $5 of their entry fee was donated
    to that organization.

  • The American Cancer Society piloted their Charity Runner program at the
Community First Fox Cities Marathon for all Sunday participants. By
raising a minimum of $1,000 each, participants enjoyed pre-race and race
    weekend perks.
  • More information on the 2008 Community First Fox Cities Marathon charity
partners and the Charity Runner program is available on the Community First
Fox Cities Marathon website - www.foxcitiesmarathon.org.

The Community First Fox Cities Marathon is a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization. With over 5,700 participants in 2007, the 18th annual
weekend of events is set for September 20-21, 2008.
