Memorial Day Marathon Races Grow in Year Three

May 17, 2012

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Memorial Day Marathon Races Grow in Year Three

With less than two weeks until race day the Memorial Day Marathon expects
its biggest year yet. In year one the Memorial Day marathon races had 680
participants, last year that number jumped to 947. Race organizers believe
that in year three race numbers could exceed 1200.

Among the reasons for the growth are two additional events to be held on
Saturday of race weekend, The Berkshire Bank Kids Run and the Memorial Day
Marathon 15K Trail Race presented by La Sportiva. "We wanted to make it
more of a weekend event and have always thought that a Trail Race would be
fantastic in The Berkshires, a Kids Run was a natural fit and we were
thrilled that Berkshire Bank wanted it to be a part of their presenting
sponsorship” said event organizer Matt Linick.

Another addition to the race weekend is the MDM Trail-Road Challenge.
Runners that participate in the 15K Trail Race on Saturday and any of the
four road races on Sunday will receive an additional special finisher
medal, a MDM Trail-Road Challenge Stainless Steel water bottle and a
special technical finisher shirt. Runners taking part receive 25% off
their road race entry fee.

The weekend will now consist of six events. The 15K Trail Race and
Berkshire Bank Kids Run will both be on Saturday, May 26, 2012 starting at
8 AM and 9 AM respectively. The Marathon and Half Marathon will start at 8
AM on Sunday May 27, 2012 with the 10K/5K starting at 8:20 AM. All of the
races will start and finish at the famed Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox,
MA.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
