Salmon Marathon To Be Held On September 12, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALMON VALLEY, Ida. – Get your running shoes ready! Salmon Idaho is once
again hosting a September Marathon. The 2009 Marathon will be September
12th, 2009. The race is being brought to Salmon this year by the Salmon
Valley Chamber of Commerce with the help of the City of Salmon and the
community as a whole. The race is a fast, scenic, point-to-point course
that starts in Tendoy, ID. Tendoy, for you history buffs, is the birthplace
of Sacajawea, the Agaidika Shoshone woman, who with her infant child
accompanied Lewis and Clark on their historic journey to the Pacific and
back. The course follows the Old Lemhi Road as it winds along the Lemhi
River west onto Main Street and into Salmon. After crossing the Salmon
River at the end of Main Street, runners will turn left into Island Park
and the finish line. The timing has been changed from gun timing to chip
timing to record times more accurately and post them in a very timely
fashion.

Other sponsors are Shu's Idaho Running Company from Boise and Hammer
Nutrition, headquartered in Whitefish, MT. Shu's Idaho Running Company
will be providing Hammer Nutrition is known worldwide for their nutrition
products, and will be providing the sports drink HEED for the 250 runners.
This year registration and chip timing will be through Blue Circle sports,
which you can link to from the marathon's website at www.salmonmarathon.com.

As of April 6th there are already 58 runners registered. The biggest
group is 10 runners in the female 40 to 49-year-old bracket. The other
brackets are 60+: 3 males, 1 Female. 50-59: 7 males, 2 females. 40-49: 7
males, 10 females. 30-39:7 males, 7 females. 20-29: 2 males, 5 females.
There is no one signed up for the 12 to 19-year-old bracket. So get out
your running shoes and get training for the Salmon Marathon in September.
