Runners High, the inspirational film about high school
students training to run the LA Marathon that debuted
at the San Francisco International Film Festival becomes

Museum on Saturday May 5,2007

(RENO, Nev.) – It's more than a marathon and this time it is the Reno
Premiere of the critically acclaimed documentary Runners High. Come watch
this inspirational film about high school students training to run the LA
Marathon with special introduction by the film's director Justine Jacob. A
special showing on Saturday - May 5, 2007 - of the film takes place before
the CarbFest Runner Dinner at the National Automobile Museum just before
the second annual running of the Marathon de Mayo. The event is open to the
public with a cost is $8. There is a $3 discount for all runners in any of
the MdM 2007 races.

When teenagers from one of the Nation's toughest neighborhoods in Oakland,
Calif. sign up to train for a marathon, they begin the journey of a
lifetime. First screened at the San Francisco International Film Festival,
Runners High is an intimate, character driven documentary of struggle,
courage, and hope. During a season filled with conflict and possibility,
four of these teens bare their dreams, joys, tears and fears. As several
stumble under pressure in emotionally charged moments, others realize the
journey begins with the power and commitment to accept responsibility for
their own futures.

Doug Collins, executive producer of the marathon wanted a good running film
to partner the Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo with the Reno Film
Festival. He is especially excited about Runners High.

"When executive director Lani Bonar first approached me to join forces for
at least one film, we knew the focus had to be about running," says
Collins. "Runners High is so moving. Plus it really ties with our own Kids
26.2 Marathon with the students of Echo Loder Elementary, an at-risk school
near Park Lane Mall. Their coach and teacher Jennifer Andrew feels the most
important thing they can learn from participating in the Kids 26.2 Marathon
is to make a commitment and stick to it … then reap the rewards for doing
so."
