The Prague International Marathon and Marathon Weekend, May 16th - 18th
In what has become a welcomed tradition, the golden center of Prague, the
City of a Hundred Spires, is preparing to again play host to the Marathon
Weekend from 16th to 18th of May while culminating on Sunday with the
Prague International Marathon - an event adorned by the presence of several
elite international athletes and an approximate 5000 participants. The
Marathon Weekend will also contain a number of non-competitive runs
specifically designed for the expected 25,000 people who want to walk, jog,
run, or just plain spend a wonderful day full of sporting fun
CSOB Pojištovna and the Czech Ministry of Health are also pleased to invite
all children under 15 years of age to run for free (no registration fee
required) at all events organized on May 18th, the National Day of Health.
This unique opportunity is indeed worth noting due to the fact that, for
one of the first times in modern marathon history, the state government is
actually working together with a marathon organizing committee in order to
create a truly National event.
In addition, from 5th to 17th of May 2003, the Marathon Expo, located on
Wenceslas Square, will be opened to the public and serve as not only the
central registration point for all Marathon Weekend running events, but
also as an information center where everyone can get full details
concerning various races and other Marathon Weekend events. Expo Visitors
will also have the opportunity to look at and buy products offered by
numerous PIM Partners.
This year's Marathon Weekend will also witness the Staropramen Marathon
Music Festival, which is the biggest, and only, music festival of its
magnitude held in Prague's picturesque center. The festival sees sport
meeting and proves that it is possible to unite these two different yet
enjoyable phenomena into one unique cultural experience. The runners'
enthusiasm as well as the exceptional performances of musicians along the
Marathon course confirms this fact.
And so, we invite you to come join us in the heart of Europe for a 3-day
celebration in honor of that most beloved of running events - the marathon.
Just don't expect any records to be broken: Prague is such a beautiful city
that the runner's are more likely to be caught gazing at its stunning
skyline than concentrating on shaving off a minute or two from their
Personal Record.
