Kenyan Erick Kimayo pulled ahead of countryman Charles Kamindo to win Saturday's Baltimore Maraton in 2:17:43. Elvira Kolpakova repeated her win in the women's race with a 2:50:00 finish. This year's Baltimore race was flatter and faster, and near perfect weather greated the competitors.

Erick Kimayo met Charles Kamindo, a fellow countryman from Kenya, yesterday morning at Camden Yards. They warmed up together for Baltimore's Comcast Marathon, then raced shoulder to shoulder for 21 miles, until the elder Kimayo pushed ahead to win the race.

Erick Kimayo, a 33-year-old from Marakwet, Kenya and one of the favorites in Saturday's race, easily won the Baltimore Marathon with a course record time of 2 hours, 17 minutes and 43 seconds. Russian Elvira Kolpakova, 29, the defending women's champion, won again. She finished in 2:50:00, improving on last year's time by more than two minutes. Last year she ran 2:52:08.

In the Baltimore Marathon, Kenyan Erick Kimayo, 33, took the men's race in 2:17.44; countryman Charles Kamindo, 20, was second in 2:19.58. For the second straight year, Elvira Kolpakova won the women's race, this time in 2 hours 50 minutes 1 second.
