The 11th annual Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival contributed an estimated $30,565,500 to the city and state's economy according to a recent study by RESI, an economic research and consulting firm located at Towson University (see chart on page 2). This year the event attracted a record 25,000 runners, marking the ninth consecutive year of 10-15% growth from the year prior.

Six-thousand runner ran the first Baltimore Marathon eleven years ago. Race organizers dreamt of a growing race and in 2011 they have realized a field of more than twenty-five thousand runners.

David Berdan led the Baltimore Marathon by as much as two-hundred yards before he was finally passed and wound up finishing as the first American with a time of 2 hours 21 minutes and 19 seconds.
