Probably okay if you're a fast runner or only do the half

I ran this one a year and a half ago, and am really sorry I wasted my time going there. If you're not staying near the start, get there early because parking is a nightmare. There weren't enough porta potties. Several of us were still waiting in line when the gun went off. The road surfaces were poor on the bridges. There was almost no crowd support for the first half and none for the second. I finished after 5 hours and had to go in search of my finisher's medal. And they were closing down the food stations.

Meaghan Mathews,Springfield, and Kathy Lynch, South Hadley ran a high number of mileage together while training for the Bay State Marathon, the largest marathon in the state. Mathews nipped Lynch at the line for fourth place with a time of 3 hours and 4 seconds. Lynch was just six second off her shoulder.

Springfield runner has marathon goals for Bay State Marathon

At twenty-four Joe Hegarty has big goals for his first attempt at the marathon distance. Aiming for a 2:30-2:35 finish at the Bay State Marathon, if things go well, his long-range goal of running in the 2012 Olympic Trials could be a possibility. Bay State Marathon will take place in Lowell, Massachusetts on Oct. 19.
