Comments on the large international participation; 78 overseas runners were registered for the event, 39 of which committed to run the full marathon.

The Cayman Island Marathon organizers are following suit with most other marathons and getting children ages 8 to 12 involved with the marathon weekend events. The fun run is being sponsored by the ministry of education and will include a half mile run shortly after parents have finished their marathon event.
