Marathons mean many things to each participant. Although the focus tends to be on the fastest elites, sometimes there is more. As is the case for New Yorker Chris Solarz who came third place behind winner Scott Brittain and Eduardo Torres. Solarz celebrated his 121st marathon finish. Despite the heat and humidity of Cayman Island, Solarz ran close to his personal best, finishing in 3:11:45.

Brittain hopes to smash Caymman marathon record!

Scott Brittain, who ran 2:31 at the Gold Coast Marathon earlier this year, plans on smashing the course record at the Cayman Island Marathon. Brittain is regarded as a casual runner and hopes to eclipse the 2:53 record despite the expected heat.

Cayman Marathon going green this Sunday

Chris Weaver of Island Supply said his company is proud to provide eco-friendly Greenware cups to the participants of the Cayman Island Marathon. More than 16,000 cups made of the bio-degradable Nebraska corn based cups will be placed along the course for runners and walkers. While race officials brag about the wonderful volunteers who do an excellent job of picking up...it is still nice to know that these Greenware cups will not be an eyesore.

Cayman Marathon ‘Tags’ Great Prizes Again

Tag Huer Watches valued at over 1,250 dollars will be given to the overall male and female winners of the Cayman Island Marathons. Other top prizes include airline tickets and weekend getaways donated by local sponsoring companys. Slots are still available for the December 3rd race start.
