8,000 compete in second Cork marathon

East Cork's Roy Fahy won the second Cork City marathon in a time of two hours 33 minutes 55 seconds after finish third in the first annual event. He was two minutes ahead of second place finisher Eoin O'Connell whose time was 2 hours 35 minutes and 57 seconds. St Finbarr's Cathal O'Connell finished third in 2 hours 36 minutes and 17 seconds. The women's marathon was won by Sligo Athletic Club's Lucy Brennan with a time of 2 hours 54 minutes.

An Extra Leg Needed to Finish the Cork Marathon.

Colin Carroll, and Irish lawyer, will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Record time for the three legged marathon. The record of 3 hours and 40 minutes is held by identical twins, Nick and Alastair Benbow.
