Looney is starting the Fort Worth Marathon, scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Botanical Gardens. Although the Cowtown Marathon, scheduled in February, has been run for 30 years, Looney sees plenty of room for one more.

The Board of Directors of The Cowtown, one of the largest multi-race events in the country, announced that for the 30th anniversary of the event on February 23, 2008, they will seek a USA Track & Field Association sanction for a 50K race. This 31-mile event will be in addition to The Cowtown Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, Adult 5K and Kids 5K races. The 3-person marathon relay, which has been declining in entry numbers since the half marathon was added, will be eliminated in 2008.

Keith Pierce finished first in the men's marathon, besting the field by more than 12 minutes, winning in a time of 2:30:23.

Diagnosed with cervical cancer just 41 days before and 21 days after surgery to remove the cancer, Sirei Terjesen flew from Brisbane Australia to participate in the Cowtown Marathon and was the winner in 3:05:29.
