The Delaware Marathon will take place on May 16 2010. The events of the day are limited to only two-thousand participants. Finish line changes have been made due to the somewhat confusing situation during the 2009 event.

Marco Capelli had finished second in the Delaware Marathon in 2006 and 2007. The newly designed 2009 marathon course proved to be a winning combination as Capelli surged ahead at the 10 mile mark to win with a time of 2 hours, 40 minutes and 13 seconds.

The Delaware Marathon will host over eighteen-hundred runners in several races for the sixth annual marathon. The 2009 event has moved starting locations about one mile from Frawley Stadium to Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park

The Strides for Hope team of Sussex County is looking for runners to help raise funds for free cancer support. The group will run at the Chicago 1/2 Marathon in April and Delaware Marathon in Wilmington at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 17th.
