The Detroit Free Press (sponsor of the marathon) video taped the finish line of the Detroit Marathon for the entire six and a half hours before the course was closed. You can watch yourself (or your friend/family/arch enemy/whatever) cross the finish line!

From early morning, before the sun rose, the Detroit area was a buzz with activity for the Free Press Marathon. The wheelchair race began at five minutes after 7 am in the dark morning and the marathon kicked off five minutes later to the classic Van Halen tune of "Right Now".

Marathoner David Cheruiyot won Sunday's Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon with a time of 2 hours 16 minutes and 44 seconds. Clint Verran of Rochester finished second in 2 hours 18 minutes and 21 seconds.Tetyana Byelovol, of Ukraine, who lives in Miami, won the women's marathon in 2 hours 40 minutes and 17 seconds. Mary Akor of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was second in 2 hours 41 minutes and 32 seconds.

One of the factors attracting runners to the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Marathon has been its course. Construction along the course has caused changes to the race route each of the last ten years including this year.
