Joseph Nderitu took it all in stride, saying "confusion" happens and he wasn't about to sweat it. Nderitu, an affable Kenyan, was among a lead pack of four runners who were sent a couple of kilometres out of their way in the 21.1-k half-marathon during yesterday's Forest City Road Races, which started and finished at Western's TD Waterhouse Stadium.

Forest City Marathon winner inspired by cause

It was the cause -- the Thames Valley Children's Centre -- that captured Shannon Bedard-Evon. The LaSalle mom and Windsor emergency room nurse squeezed the hands of her kids, Jerrett, 7, and Meaghan-Ryan, 5, as she walked proudly down the finishing chute toward her husband Russ after winning the women's division of the 42.2-kilometre marathon, the main event during yesterday's 22nd Forest City Road Races.
