Scenic small town race

Course was scenic - definitely rolling hills but nothing very steep or prolonged. Roads are not closed but only a handful of cars passed me during the whole race. Easy on race morning - we stayed about 10 minutes away and left 1/2 hour before race time but start line is actually the parking lot of a hotel so if you stay there you can truly just roll out of bed and be at the start. It's nice to go to the bathroom in your own room! Not a lot of spectators on course but the water station volunteers were great.

Runners are gearing up for the second annual Gettysburg North-South Marathon, April 29, through the battlefields and scenic countryside surrounding the historic Pennsylvania town. Coming off a successful inaugural race in 2011, organizers have made some great changes including the course layout. This year's route will be a loop course, changed from the out-and-back course in 2011, that starts near Gettysburg College, runs through the Gettysburg battlefield and out into the Adams County countryside and back to town.
