The 2008 GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend concluded today with the Marathon, Half Marathon and Marathon Relay events. More than 13,000 people participated in the eighth annual event. Karl Gilpin from Russellville, MO was the overall male marathon winner, establishing a new course record in the process. Gilpin, 29, completed the 26.2 scenic course in a time of 2:24:51, breaking Daniel Maurer's 2006 record of 2:25:09. Gilpin's win marked the second consecutive year that he has won the GO! St. Louis marathon. He won the 2007 race with a time of 2:28:59. On the woman's side, Tara Keller, 33, from Hilliard, OH finished first with a time of 3:07:26.

The eighth GO! St. Louis Family Fitness Weekend, which includes seven different events for the entire family is set for April 5 & 6, 2008. Participant registrations are on a record-breaking trend with only a few days before the two-day celebration. The Half Marathon, which continues to be the most popular race, has only a few hundred openings and is nearing the 10,000 race cap. The Marathon and Marathon Relay registrations will boost the participation numbers to close to 14,500, making it the largest competitive road race in Missouri's history. Participants from 46 states, the District of Columbia and eight different countries will be competing.

Steve and Paula Boone head up the 50 States Marathon Club. Membership to this exclusive club is only 10 dollars per year. And to join you only have to complete 10 marathons in 10 different states. Steve Boone has made the complete 50 state circuit twice and his wife Paula has done 220 marathons. The group will venture to the Go! St.Louis Marathon on April 6th to complete one more 26.2 mile race.
