Steve Cairns was set to receive his third place bronze medal for his finish in the Kielder Marathon after it was discovered that the original third place finisher had cheated.

Rob Sloan claimed the third place trophy for running a 2 hours and 51 minute marathon. Later it was discovered that he had ridden a bus for six miles of the course to "steal" the third place award.

Jane Hodgon bested nearly 1,200 participants at the Kielder marathon, in her first take at the distance, posting a 3:06:45 final time, against tough conditions.
