For the second straight year, the actual race day of the Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo has been given its own "day" by the Governor of Nevada. Governor Jim Gibbons declared race day, May 6, 2007 as Nevada Wide Open Marathon de Mayo Day. The proclamation will be read prior to the race beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 6, 2007. Approximately 2,000 runners and walkers along with thousands of spectators are expected to on hand to hear the news.
