Runners in Saturday's Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon found out that Insult Hill - a section that gains 90 feet over 500 to 600 meters - is just that. Located about a mile before the finish, the hill makes runners dig down deep for extra energy needed to climb.

The Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage Alaska has grown 10 fold in recent years, but its management hasn't been as successful. This year, the race will be managed by the University of Alaska - Anchorage, with the profits benefiting the running program. The race has been plagued with snafus, especially moved route markings and timing. Budget problems have also been an issue
