Greg Simpson crossed the line first in the Montana Marathon just over 24 hours after finishing a marathon in Bismark, North Dakota on Saturday. He did not win as he started the race 2 hours early to make his flight back to New Jersey on time. The winner of the overall marathon was Tim Phillips of Glasgow.

With only 135 marathon runners of nearly 5,000 participants in the weekends running events, questions have been raised about where the focus should be. Helena may be missing the boat on the ever increasing of marathons that are attending marathons in Montana.
