Race Director Bob Bestler is describing the Myrtyle Beach Marathon as a good way to shed off extra pounds put on during the holidays, as well as the best way to raise money for the S.C. chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Last year the race brought about 3,700 participants who ran in both the full 26.2-mile marathon, in a five-member relay team and in the one-mile family fun run. This year will include a half marathon event.
