The clear skies and fair weather allowed for a beautiful Denver Marathon. The 2007 edition sported rain and chilly temperatures for the more than five thousand runners. Jynocel Basweti of Santa Fe won for the men in two hours, 22 minutes, 13 seconds; Nuta Olaru of Longmont took the women's title in 2 hours 42 minutes and 18 seconds.

Jynocel Basweti won the Denver Marathon on Sunday as Kenyans took the top three finishes. Basweti posted a winning time of 2 hours, 22 minutes, 13 seconds. Richard Kimeli was second in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 54 seconds, followed by defending champion Jonathan Ndambuki in 2 hours 24 minutes and 53 seconds. Romania's Nuta Olaru won the women's race in 2 hours 42 minutes and 18 seconds.

The third annual Denver Marathon will begin at 7 am at the State Capital. With the flat course that winds through the city's greatest landmarks, race director Villatoro says the event - even with the altitude - is getting more recognition and he expects the race to get bigger and better every year, starting with the third running Sunday.
