Event co-ordinator Myrtle Jenkins-Smith is excited about the 1,600 participants in Sunday’s Prince Edward Island Marathon which began at 9 a.m., with marathon runners and corporate teams starting at the P.E.I. National Park in Brackley before winding 42.2 kilometres into Charlottetown by way of the Confederation Trail.

MacKinnon wins Prince Edward Island Marathon

Mike MacKinnon of Miscouche crossed the finish line in the BMO Nesbitt Burns Prince Edward Island Marathon in a time of 2 hours 39 minutes and 28 seconds. Organizers announced him as a runner in the half marathon at first. He then went back and crossed the line a second time to break the tape.
