Kenyans swept overall titles during the ninth running of THE Quad Cities Marathon Sunday. Nineteen-year-old Jynocel Basweti won the men's race in a course record 2:16:38, while Anne Jelagat won the women's race in 2:41:33.

The field is set for Sunday's (Sept. 24th) 9th running of THE Quad Cities Marathon, presented by THE National Bank. The field includes Dzmitry Sivou (Belarus, 2:19:07 2006 Houston Marathon), Jynocel Basweti (Kenya, 2:19:15 2006 Buffalo Marathon) and QCM course record holder, Sergey Nochevny (2:18:42 in 2003). In the women's division, Alena Vinitskaya (Belarus) looks to become the event's first three-time champion, having won in 2002 and 2003. 2004 champion, Valentyna Poltavska also returns to defend her title.

This year’s race will be run on a redrawn course that means more of the Iowa side of the Mississippi River and less of the long, arduous ending stretch that worked its way through East Moline. The alteration eliminates the possible threat of three of the four railroad crossings the course previously passed over.
