On holiday in Jamaica, Rik Ceulemans of Belgium saw signs for the Reggae Marathon and registered on Saturday before race day. In his fourth marathon, Ceulemans, who was running his fourth marathon, won in 2:31:43. He finished eleven seconds ahead of Rupert Green (2: 37.22) and defending champion Andrew Gutzmore (2:41.32).

Alfred Francis, race director, expects nearly 700 runners for the Reggae Marathon that takes place in Negril at 5 am on Saturday. Athletes from around the world have entered to compete for the Bob Marley award.

My desire is to practise a healthy lifestyle, to eat right, exercise and lose weight as I am presently overweight and very unfit," notes Kenisha, who will be running the half marathon. "My eating habits, transportation and lack of time, I work five days a week and I have classes on two of those evenings," she explained as the culprits of her current situation.
