The man was 35 years old and his identity was not released at the request of his family, the television station reported. The Savannah Morning News reported that the man was from Georgia. We are saddened by a heartbreaking and tragic loss. Our deepest sympathies and prayers go out to family members and loved ones of the runner, said a statement released by marathon medical director P.Z. Pearce.

Rock 'n' Roll Marathon runners arrive in Savannah

Many of the runners for this weekend's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon are beginning to arrive in town. Some 21,000 runners have already signed up for Saturday's race and that means plenty of cash this weekend and in the future.

Rock N Roll Marathon Announces 2015 Savannah Race

Rock n Roll Savannah Marathon & ½ Marathon is set to return the weekend of November 7 8. This year, the annual fall race will celebrate a milestone anniversary of five-years of running. Registration is available online and participants who sign up today, July 15 will save up to $20 by using code SAVE15 and registering before the price increase.
