The four-year run for the Sarasota Marathon has come to an end. Race organizers are focusing on the half-marathon which seems to have a much bigger draw than the full 26.2 mile race.

The Grouper run held in Sarasota will no longer play host to the 26.2 mile distance race. With only fifteen to twenty percent of race day participants showing interest in the full marathon, organizers will focus only on the half-marathon

Forty-two states and seven countries were represented in the Sarasota Marathon as nearly two-thousand runners took to the streets. Tom Trealout was the men's overall winner with a time of 2 hours 53 minutes and 21 seconds. Dot Martin of Vermont took home top womens honors.
