While some runners were disappointed with the chopping of the Sarasota Marathon into a half marathon, other runners are jumping at the opportunity to move up from 5K's and 10K's to tackle the 13.1 mile event.

The Sarasota Marathon will not take place next Sunday but race organizers are still hoping that the half-marathon will draw a few thousand runners. The Sarasota Marathon is joining the Gasparilla Marathon in dropping the 26.2 mile race from it's events schedule.
