Uli Steidl and Joan McGrath won the Men's and Women's divisions of the Seattle Marathon for the second straight year. Steidl, was the overall winner in 2:24:38 and McGrath completed the course in a PR of 2:49:25. , finishing more than 2 miles ahead of runner-up David Ruggles of Kingston, Ontario, who clocked in at 2:36:25.

Many everday runners competed in the Seattle Marathon on Sunday, among them was John Dorsey. The 37 year old Seattle resident finished the course in 3 hours and 50 minutes. His sense of pride for doing what many normal people consider too daunting to attempt is what keeps him going.
