Carole Rowe, a hometown runner in the Top of Utah marathon in Providence, won the women's field of her first-ever marathon in 3:02:45, well ahead of her goal to finish under three and a half hours. Dennis Simonaitis repeated as the race winner with his 2:26:05 after hanging back from the lead until the final miles.
