Mississippian Chuck Engle paces record field at Memorial Health Tybee Marathon

Clinton, Miss., resident Chuck Engle poured on the speed in the final stretch of Saturday's Tybee Marathon to win in 2:36:52, the best time in four years of the race. Heather Smith of Rincon, Ga., was the top female finisher. Engle came to the race with plenty of experience behind, having run two other marathons in the past month.

Runners See Past the Pain to the Gain in Tybee Marathon

Savannah runner Jim Hite ran through the pain of his morning run last September as he was suffering a heart attack and didn't even know it. Some people just don't know when to quit, says Michelle LaFleur, Savannah's 30 year-old running star and Tybee marathon great. When your body is saying no, your first reaction is to ignore it. Hite's case presents a lesson to all runners preparing for this weekend's race, become more in-tune with your body.
