   Ocean Drive Destroyed, but Ocean Drive Marathon Goes on Today in Cape May (Press of Atlantic City)
Ocean Drive Marathon director Ed DiPalma was worried about the upcoming race and that he would have to alter the race course dramatically. Hurricane Sandy destroyed a section of the course. The Department of Public Works for Cape May County came through to repair the road and the race, although down in numbers, will go on.

Mark Ott won his first marathon at the Ocean Drive Marathon in 2 hours 56 minutes and 16 seconds. The last several steps across the finish line were done on his hands. Second place was nearly 3 minutes back. Ott claimed to have blown a lead in a previous race and was worried up until the final few meters.

The annual Ocean Drive Marathon will be paired with the first even of the New Jersey Cycling Associations Grand Prix. The marathon begins at 8 am and will run along 26.2 miles of Ocean Drive. The cyclists will pedal off at 9 am and battle for points for the Grand Prix.

   Ocean Drive Marathon Results (Cape May County News)
The running of the Ocean Drive Marathon on Sunday brought hundreds of runners to the Jersey Cape to travel north from here to Sea Isle City. First place went to Marco Capelli of Collegeville, Pa. with a time of two hours, 48 minutes, 48 seconds. Second place went to Oz Pearlman of New York, N.Y. with a time two hours, 53 minutes, 44 seconds. Third place went to Matthew Patrick of New York, N.Y. with a time two hours, 54 minutes, 45 second. The event benefits local organizations, including Volunteers in Medicine, Marine Mammal Stranding Center, and local high schools.
