Joylin Nodwell ignored the standard practice of sleep the night before her victory in Edmonton. Instead, she opted to watch the women's Olympic Marathon. Inspiration from the gold medal finish and her father, who passed from cancer in May, spurred her on to win the race in 3 hours and 11 minutes.

   David Corbett wins the Edmonton Marathon (Edmonton Journal)
David Corbett won the 2008 Edmonton Marathon for the third year in the a row. He finished in a 2:35:27, Tom McGrath trailed Corbett with a time of 2:52:18. Ian Blockland was third in 2:52:23. On the women's side Joylin Nodwell won for the second year in a row with a time of 3:11:02. Carmen Thiessen finished in second place with a 3:27:12 and Jill Stein came in third with a 3:31:12.
