Weekend Marathon Highlights: Victories Across Texas and North Carolina

Runners delivered strong performances at three marathons across the U.S. this past weekend. At the Cowtown Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas, 22-year-old Jarrett Kirk of Flower Mound took the men’s title with a time of 2:26:00, while Lauren Kelly, 34, from Philadelphia, won the women’s race in 2:52:51. Kirk, a former Princeton track athlete, boasts a 10,000-meter personal best of 28:56.68, and Kelly, a member of the Philadelphia Runner Track Club, has a marathon best of 2:41:59.
In El Paso, the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon saw Derek Weber from Santa Fe, New Mexico, claim the men’s victory in 2:46:55. Local runner Nina Lane secured the women’s title in 3:07:42. The race, known for its 1,519-foot net elevation drop, begins in the Franklin Mountains and finishes in downtown El Paso, offering one of the fastest courses in the country.
Meanwhile, at the Novant Health Wilmington Marathon in North Carolina, 35-year-old Hector Falcón from Charleston, West Virginia, won the men’s race in 2:25:34. Originally from El Paso, Texas, Falcón previously set a course record at the 2023 Marshall University Marathon. The women’s division was dominated by 42-year-old Maria Lindberg from Elmhurst, Illinois, who finished in 2:43:23, adding to her past victory at the 2022 Grand Rapids Marathon.
