Boston or Son’s Birth
So I started running when I was 40 and did pretty well. I bought books by Galloway and Higdon and followed their plans. After 2 years of training- running 5k, 10k and half marathons I was ready.
Being from St. Louis meant we would travel about 5 hours north. My wife, who was pregnant, my niece, who was also pregnant and her husband, piled into a Honda van and off we went.
So ignorance is bliss as they say because I set out into a place I had never been before, a full marathon. Although The Wall is real, I was able to record a 3:16 time. I had qualified for Boston by 4 minutes!
I finished 5 marathons and never qualified again and I did not go to Boston due to the fact my first son was born 6 days later! I wouldn’t change a thing, no regrets.
