London likes speed and for 2011, the London Marathon organizers got what they wanted. The men’s race saw a new course record and the fifth fastest marathon finish of all time. The women’s race saw the seventh fastest marathon finish of all time and the third best women’s finish at London (slower, only, than two of Paula Radcliffe’s finishes…).
