Last weekend’s marathons in the United States featured several notable performances.At theĀ Cowtown MarathonĀ in Fort Worth, Texas, 22-year-old Jarrett Kirk from Flower Mound secured victory with a time of 2:26:00. Kirk, a former Princeton University track athlete, has a personal best of 28:56.68 in the 10,000 meters. In the women’s race, 34-year-old Lauren Kelly from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, finished first in 2:52:51. Kelly, a member of the Philadelphia Runner Track Club, achieved a personal best of 2:41:59 in the marathon on June 17, 2023.
In Texas, the Michelob UltraĀ El Paso MarathonĀ saw Derek Weber of Santa Fe, New Mexico, win the men’s race with a time of 2:46:55. The women’s division was led by Nina Lane of El Paso, Texas, who finished in 3:07:42. Notably, the El Paso Marathon features a net elevation drop of 1,519 feet, starting atop the Franklin Mountains and concluding in historic downtown El Paso, making it one of the fastest courses in the nation.At the Novant HealthĀ Wilmington MarathonĀ in North Carolina, 35-year-old Hector FalcĆ³n from Charleston, West Virginia, secured victory with a time of 2:25:34. FalcĆ³n, originally from El Paso, Texas, set a course record of 2:32:30 at the 2023 Marshall University Marathon. In the women’s race, 42-year-old Maria Lindberg from Elmhurst, Illinois, finished first in 2:43:23. Lindberg previously won the 2022 Grand Rapids Marathon with a time of 2:53:53.
