(DALLAS - December 28, 2004) - The Dallas White Rock Marathon Board of
Trustees is pleased to announce that after time-checking and tabulating, it
has released the official results of the 2004 Dallas White Rock Marathon,
Michelob Ultra "Run the Rock" Half Marathon and the Bank of America
5-Person Relay on its Web site www.RunTheRock.com. Held on Sunday, Dec.
12, more than 9,400 runners from around the world gathered at the American
Airlines Center in Dallas for the 35th running of the Dallas White Rock
Marathon. The event was presented by the Dallas Police Association and
benefited Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC) in Dallas.
For the estimated 100,000 spectators that cheered on the runners, Sunday's
race concluded a weekend full of educational and entertaining festivities.
Highlights included: Friday night's Texas Shindig at Eddie Deen's Ranch,
Saturday's Mayor's 5K Walk and Fun Run, free Marathon Fitness Expo and
Pre-race Pasta Dinner. The dinner featured the presentation of the joint
"Victory Award for Excellence" to Arturo Barrios and Dagny Scott Barrios,
as well as the spirit award to Cody McCasland, junior race director and
patient at TSRHC.
Top finishers of the marathon received a total prize money purse of
$50,000, which was presented at the "I Rocked" Awards Banquet at the
American Airlines Center following the race. Monetary awards for the top
six male and female finishers of the full marathon were decided by actual
time, rather than chip time to make the race fair. All other official
results were decided by chip time.
