Date Set For Utah Valley Marathon

PROVO, UT. - The Utah Valley Marathon in Provo is now set to host elite
athletes and a range of enthusiasts from around the country competing on
June 12 under a charitable cause.

Competitors can enter a full marathon, which is qualifier for the
prestigious Boston Marathon; or participate in a half marathon, a five-
kilometer race, or foot bike and hand cycle categories. Spectators will
have the chance see racers come down Provo Canyon and continue along
University Avenue to the finish line at the Provo Towne Centre Mall.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Children with Cancer Christmas
Foundation, assisting children suffering from cancer; and the Deseret
International, creating charitable programs for individuals with surgically
correctable problems.

"We have one of the best marathon courses in the country, and competitors
can support a great cause," said race promoter, Gary Robison. "Whether you
are extremely competitive or just want to try something new, you can't miss
this event."

The Utah Valley Marathon is a USA Track & Field sanctioned event with a
certified racecourse starting Southeast of Deer Creek Reservoir in
Wallsburg. Competitors will race through much of Utah County's diverse
scenery along the Provo River.

This year's Utah Valley Marathon will be its third year. The event will
conclude the second of four marathons in the Utah Grand Slam series for
2010. The Utah Valley Marathon is also distinguished as the only foot bike
marathon in the United States according the promoters.

"As one of the fastest growing running events in Utah, we began with 240
athletes in the inaugural year and 1170 athletes last year," said Robinson.
"The event is on track to have three times as many athletes in 2010 than
last year."
