"A lovely coastal run" (about: 2019)

A really well organised event with a passionate director. Not exactly flat, but the little undulations and ungiving surface gave my legs a hard time. Easy to enter, register and locate. Less than 600 runners in the marathon but 10k and Half mar. were very popular. Chip timing, good drinks stations and helpful volunteers made for a good day. Weather will always have the potential to spoil your day in this exposed island but this year the wind was not too strong and the temperature was OK (about 20C max.)

Better than last year, but still problems with post-race transport for those not returning to La Santa. No one seemed to know where the temporary bus stop to PDC was. The toilets were better, at least! On the whole, a good day and the general public seem to be getting more interested! I have downloaded 2008 entry form for the 1/4 marathon! I will be running for the SARA animal shelter again.

"Good course, but organization could be better" (about: 2006)

4-5 previous marathons | 2 Lanzarote Marathons
COURSE: 4  ORGANIZATION: 2  FANS: 4

I was taking part in the 1/4 marathon. Left PDC on the first bus at 8:30 a.m. with my husband, who has walking difficulties. We knew the bus route had been changed because of the marathon, but had been assured by race officials that there would be no problems. We were put off bus by the driver at an unknown part of Arecife with others who were also taking part. No one knew where to go and groups set off in different directions - we got left behind and finally got to the race site with barely enough time to visit toilets - all blocked and quite disgusting - and find my way to the starting point. Similar situation going back afterwards - neither officials nor police knew where to get the bus for PDC but we finally found the place by chance. All in all, not a very happy experience and we spoke to several other people, spectators and participants who felt the same. Suggest that next year a map showing changes to bus routes should be supplied for those not based at at La Santa. On the plus side, the route was more interesting and more support from spectators was appreciated - but PLEASE do something about the toilets!

"2005 well organized, but not enough publicity" (about: 2005)

After running one 10K in the UK, I tried the quarter marathon in Lanza in Dec. 2005. Surprised at lack of publicity and charity involvement, which is very strong in UK. Perhaps the Lanza run is seen as an athletics event rather than a fun run, but why not both? Look forward to Arrecife; I hope people will be there to cheer on the runners between the start and finish. This will now be my 5th 10K (age 74!) and I will be running for SARA Protectora.

"nice warm races with caring organizers" (General Comments)

Since 2003, this has been held in Costa Teguise - not, as formerly, in Puerto del Carmen.

Costa Teguise is a nicer resort than P. del C., and the two are located about 5 miles either side of the airport, with regular 50-minute bus service between the resorts.

We came last year to the races in Costa Tegise and this year I am taking a party of 10; some to do the full and some the half.

Be ready for the repetitive course, but you can keep an eye on the opposition.
