"Stunning Scenery, Very Hilly, This is one to do!" (about: 2012)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 Set in a small German village (Waxweiler) with limited accomodation but very picturesque village streets. Everything is in German so you will need to translate page if you can't read Deutsche. The race was a small affair with only 190 people. The course is hilly. It's very challenging but the feeling when I finished was well worth it. Minimal crowd support, sufficient course marshaling. It's a beautiful run on farm roads, country paths, and forest roads. Good pasta party, no real expo to speak of. Overall a very good experience.

"The most beautifull experience of my life!!" (about: 2000)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 5 On June 4, 2000, I ran this race. The organization promised me to ship the results to Belgium. Unfortunately, I never received the results. I hope that the organization can e-mail the end result 7 years later to my e-mail address, and I also hope that after much trouble with my body, I'll still be there next year. It was the most beautifull moment in my life!! That's why I hope so much for the resuls from the 2000 Eifel Marathon. I thank you 1,000 times for your help!!

"A Beautiful but Hilly Experience" (about: 2005)

COURSE: 5 ORGANIZATION: 5 FANS: 4 I did this marathon on a trip to Europe. I was well trained for it, and fortunately included some hill work in my training. It paid. The weather was perfect, the course was gorgeous. We ran partly on groomed trails and dirt roads, and pavement. There were good aid stations with Coca Cola, malt beer, and seltzer water. I was not prepared for carbonated drinks only, but it was OK. There were about 190 participants, and about 30 of these were women. I liked how low-key the event was, yet well organized. Diplomas came out an hour after the race was over. As in many small European marathons, the overall quality of the runners is higher than in the US, and anyone running 5+ hours should count on being alone. |
