Amazing!
Wow, and I thought that after running all the major Marathons all over the world, nothing would amaze me anymore. What a terrific race, Luxembourg!
The Marathon starts at 7 in the evening, quite an unusual time for a race, and it actually has huge benefits. While organizers and volunteers are busy setting up water stations for runners, by 4 pm an entire city is covered with beer stations for spectators. All the residents of Luxembourg and tourists get bright orange Marathon hats and noisemakers, and by the time runners start the race at the Expo Center, the city is ready to explode with Carnival-like emotions. The Marathon course is spectacular beautiful parks, attractive neighborhoods, and thunderous ovations of many thousands of spectators (with lots of beer!) everywhere but especially in the Old City. At around 30 km mark runners descend into the valley under the walls of the ancient fortress. The sky is dark by now, and the course is lit by paper lanterns which are turned off every minute or so for half a second plunging the course into darkness and making it feel that you are in a fairy tale forest. You are supposed to hit the wall by then but with all this magic I felt stronger than even at the start. And then a very dramatic finish inside the Expo Center that turns into a huge beer hall with runners celebrating well into the night.
Add to it excellent organization, great volunteers, very frequent water stations with good-tasting isotonic drink, bananas and oranges, good and free pasta party a night before, incredible spectator support throughout an entire course, and it definitely looks like one of the best marathons in the world!

Enjoyed it a lot
Excellent organization, very interesting course, lots of water stations with sport drink, but above all the spectators were incredible. I enjoyed this Marathon very much!

Great race with a great atmosphere
This was my second marathon after running in Berlin in 2012. Luxemburg marathon stands out for me by its very good organisation, varied course and great atmosphere.
The race started and finished at the Luxexpo exhibition centre where all facilities were available to prepare before, and wind down after the race. Changing rooms, showers, toilets and a very well equiped recuperation area with lots of food and drinks after the race.
The course was varied and challenging (hilly and curvy), descending towards the city centre in the first few km and than circling in and out the centre in 4 loops. Ascending back to the finish for the last 7km.
Though challenging, the course was not slow. Partly because it was varied and I could always focus on a next 'thing to see', partly also because of the team runners (recognisable by the 'team run' sheet on their back) who provided fresh energy in the race.
There were well-equipped drinkstops (water, cola and istonic drinks, and bananas, oranges, energy cake) each two or three km.
The atmosphere with spectators and bands was great, especially in the city centre and also at the finish. The pictures taken during the race by the organisation are very nice.
Luxemburg marathon succeeds in combining a physical challenge with an exuberant party into an unforgettable experience. A great marathon for both runners and spectators.
